Island Road Trip

If you are a news junkie like me, you may know why the above picture has any significance. Let me explain – I first found out that Mr. President was coming to Hawaii for his annual vacation about a week ago, when I asked Don why there were giant barricades blocking the flight line on base. He explained that they block the view of the flight line when “important people” fly in. Later that evening we saw on the news that President Obama & his family were planning on spending the holiday’s in Kailua, Hawaii, like they have done in previous years. So naturally when Don suggested we go on a little island road trip today, I took it to mean we could try to spot the first family. Don’t get too excited. We didn’t see any Obama’s, but we did get distracted along the way at the Dole Pineapple Plantation.
They just happened to have the Worlds Largest Garden Maze, which despite the fact that neither of us were dressed for it, we had to try.
At the entrance you are given a little map & are sent on a “quest” to find 8 secret stations where you stencil a shape on this little game card they give you. If you find all 8 you get a prize (we gave up at 4 after realizing we were spending over an hour looking at the same thing when we hadn’t even explored the island yet).
After leaving the Dole Plantation we headed out for a long drive around the island.
Kind of insanely beautiful huh?
