Easter & Indulgence

April 25, 2011 § 3 Comments

Looking through my blogroll this morning, it looks like everyone had a great Easter filled with some fantastic food.

I started off my Easter morning with the last longish run before the marathon. I ran 8 miles around Diamond Head (my favorite running route) and got to use my new Garmin 305 for the first time! I know it doesn’t make much sense that I’m just now getting a Garmin watch – a week before Marathon day – but Don is getting into running as well & we thought it’d be a good tool for the both of us to share. It’s really interesting, and almost distracting to see your pace displayed right there in front of you, but I’m really glad I’ll have it for the Marathon so I can keep track of my pace & strive for my goal time of 4 hours.

After running I baked my two all time favorite – oh so indulgent – desserts, Peanut Butter Pie & Apricot Cake (both recipes from my Mom).Ā  As you can see, I did not take before photos, but I think the half eaten pics just serve as a testament to their goodness šŸ˜‰

We spent Easter with some friends from Don’s office. The host, Kayla made a delicious pot roast with carrots, homemade mashed potatoes, green beans and biscuits from scratch. So good, it reminded me of home.

And to top it off my Mimi & Papa sent us the most beautiful flower filled Easter basket,

and my Mama sent us a priority mail envelope filled with cute cards and Easter treats (check out the bunny – he’s a runner šŸ˜‰ )

It was a great Easter weekend!

Glad you had a great Easter weekend! Mine was pretty good – just another normal weekend for me (we’re not big holiday celebrators!)

I love that running chocolate bunny! I can’t believe you’ve been running without a Garmin! You’re going to love having it šŸ™‚

I don’t know if I would want the Garmin or not. I like losing myself in the running and I would probably get too focused on all of the data and forget to enjoy myself.

I’ll probably eventually want one, but I’m just enjoying myself now.
